I have went to the device manager and right clicked the peripheral driver and tried to update it over the internet and manually.. After you add it, you might need to restart the computer if it gave you a connection problem error message.

I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium I was able to connect my Blackberry Storm just fine when I had Vista..
